次回の Human Elements - 10.22(Sat) に向けてプロモミックスを作りました。自分なりに解釈した Human Elements の音ということで選曲してます。Human Elements は今年の夏に 10 周年を迎えましたが、今までいろんな人のサポートがあってここまでやってこれました。本当に感謝です。おかげさまで、場所が変わったりメンバーが変わったりしつつも自分たちの空気みたいなものは 10 年前と変わらずやっていけてる気がしています。
しっかり公開するようなミックスを作ったのは 5 年ぶりなんですが、Human Elements の音ってなんだろう、本当にかけたい音はなんだろうと何回も自問して、作っては壊しを繰り返した結果、こういうミックスになりました。トラックリストを見ると改めて自分のルーツは Good Looking サウンドなんだなと感心するような並びになってます。Pulsaar, Blade, Vandera あたりは比較的新し目ですが最高に好きなアーティストたちだし、Furney, Random Movement, Redeyes あたりは DJ するときには絶対かける。Makoto さんのトラックも、かけたいものが多すぎて迷うんですが、今回はなんとか 3 曲に抑えました。それから古株だと PFM, Second Vision なんかもいます。PFM の Driftin On By は出たばっかりですが、相変わらず PFM サウンドで嬉しくなりました。
特に Second Vision の Italian Job というトラックは 1999 年リリースで、僕が 17 の時に買った Bukem の Progression Sessions 3 に収録されていたトラックです。それからちょうど 17 年経って、自分にとってホームグラウンドと呼べるパーティのプロモミックスに使う日が来ました。これぞ Good Looking サウンドというトラックで、Phase 2 や Blade といった今の音に挟まれてもまったく色褪せない輝きを放っています。他のトラックも全部良いので、ぜひ聴いてみてください。
Hey guys, I made an 80 min promotional mix for our next gig, Human Elements - 10.22(Sat) @ 0 Zero, Aoyama, Tokyo. Human Elements turned 10 this year and thanks for all the people who have been supported us for such a long time. This is my official public mix for the first time in 5 years, and for the past weeks I’ve been working on this asking myself what is the sound of Human Elements and what sound do I want to play. Now, the tracklist quietly tells me that my heart has always been with Good Looking Records and LTJ Bukem.
Artists I featured in the mix like Pulsaar, Blade, Vandera, Om Unit, Furney, Random Movement, Redeyes, Makoto, PFM, Second Vision… They are my heroes. One of many heroes. Especially please give an attention to the tune called “Italian Job” by Second Vision. It was released in 1999 when I was 17 yo, included in “Progression Sessions 3” by LTJ Bukem which made me into this Drum & Bass world unexpectedly. After 17 years passed I could use the track in my mix to promote our beloved party. It so called “Good Looking” sound and it doesn’t fade at all even in between new tunes by Blade and Phase 2. Of course other tunes in the mix are great and I hope you enjoy it.
